Structural Wealth is a start-up with backing from leaders in venture capital and financial markets. Our mission is to fundamentally redefine the wealth management industry, using technology to automate every step from creating advice to implementing portfolios and servicing our clients.

Our market is enormous (~$300B in annual revenue), but consumers are remarkably dissatisfied: surveys find that 86% would not recommend their advisor to others. We believe they are right to be unhappy: incumbents are fraught with conflicts of interest, built on false promises of out-performance and staffed by mediocrities who give widely differing advice to similar clients.

Our solution is distinctly different. We approach wealth management as a technology-enabled optimization problem: how to best achieve client after-tax objectives while minimizing uncompensated risk. The challenge is made complex by imperfect estimates of asset class characteristics, an array of tax strategies, and the need to tailor to a host of client parameters (e.g., variable income streams, employer stock options). Advisors often argue that the difficulty of this exercise requires “human judgment.” We take the opposite view: it is precisely in the context of such complexity, greater than the human brain can process, that systematized intelligence has its greatest value.

We have a one-page website, no salespeople and do not actively seek clients. Yet, we have already grown to $500 million in client relationships, with a substantial backlog. We would be cash flow positive if we were to stop investing in people and technology, but we are committed to dominating our space. Job Description

We seek an outstanding Senior Software Engineer in Test to lead the design and implementation of our automated testing infrastructure. This is a “greenfield” opportunity to build enterprise testing systems as you will be the first test team member. The systems to be tested include a portfolio optimization engine, 3rd party enterprise systems, integration with exchanges in over 40 countries, web front-ends, and external data feeds. You will test and critique software components and interfaces in great technical depth, write test programs to assure high product quality, and develop advanced test tools to increase productivity and efficiency. The nature of our business and software systems is ideal for programmatic software testing solutions.

Core Responsibilities
• Lead automated testing effort for Java, .NET and PHP applications and serve as a subject matter expert for Software Engineering.
• Design and develop test plans and test cases based upon functional and design specifications.
• Design API level tests to effectively test the product before it reaches Functional Test.
• Execute test cases and analyze and report test results to cross functional team, helping to analyze, debug and resolve any issues..

Requirements
• BA/BS in Computer Science or related field.
• Desire for enormous ownership and impact in a young, fast-paced start-up.
• Experience with designing and implementing automated software testing frameworks.
• Experience with Java, TestNG, DBUnit, JUnit, .NET, PHPUnit, XML and/or related technologies.
• Proven track record of meeting deadlines and delivering projects on time.
• Strong database knowledge and experience writing SQL scripts (MySQL, SQLServer).
• Knowledge of Shell scripting.
• Knowledge of Maven 2.0 or Ant.
• Outstanding organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
