TITLE: Java Architect/Engineer II

FUNCTIONAL TITLE: Java (Module) Architect /Engineer II: Architectural Implementation and Granularity

PRIMARY EMPHASIS: Business and Architectural Engineering for Application Development

ABOUT THE PROJECT: We're engineering an emerging social network and unique social applications.

DESCRIPTION & PRIMARY REQUIREMENTS

This (equity-based) position requires an engineer with a varied skill set. We are seeking someone who can understand the full scope of business requirements, and expand on those requirements as needed. You (the candidate or Java Architect/Engineer) can roundly think on a business, design, and implementation level. The candidate should be able to understand a modular layout, maintain modularity, assess requirements, and help partition requirements into granular tasks. Additionally, you can visualize system design as layered interfaces.

Other key areas for the position include integration, modeling, prototyping, and technical communication. The candidate can create sub models that would integrate into larger models, and scale, as applicable. The Java Architect/Engineer can also read through lengthy comprehensive requirement documents to understand the scope of an entire application or system. You can also code in a literate style or create adjunct explanatory documentation in line with code, when requested. Also essential to the position, the candidate has formal or informal technical writing experience---mainly, if needed, you can convey technical engineering information in a document.

Assignment example:

1.Engineering management provides the Java Architect/Engineer with master business requirements for an application or module.
2.Java Architect/Engineer refines implementation plans and translates requirements into distributable engineering tasks in accordance to interface layers, UI, data schematics, and/or methods.
3.Engineer/Architect contributes to coding the module.

FOUNDATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Core:

• Education requirements: Bachelors or higher in CS or Software Engineering, or at least 2.5 years at top 12 school for CS/Engineering with exceptional acumen and fulfillment of all other requirements, or four years of collective experience as a Software Engineer or Architect in lieu of CS/Software Engineering degree

• You must be comfortable and able to complete assignments and communications completely through online mediums. We do all communication including the recruiting process via electronic format. “Reality is Virtual” is our tag line.

• Whether English is your first or second language, you must be able to read and write in the English language. You can write technical documents, and are able to convey or reiterate technical and business engineering plans in writing.

• Architect code implementations along distinct object interfaces.

• Understand general algorithms.

• At the forefront, we seek a Java engineer. You are fluent or very comfortable with Java, and proficient or knowledgeable in JSP and MySQL.

• Understand work distribution

• Should be able to approach setting up a Java development environment for coding purposes from open sources.

Desired:
• Several years of project experience
• Knowledgeable on creating builds.
• Technologies: Ant, Struts2
• Skilled in debugging systems and QA processes

Bonus:
• Server administration experience
• Can extend documentation for server set-up process
• Familiar with facebook and/or myspace APIs
• Experience with video application development

EXPECTATIONS:
Candidates should only apply if they are certain they can commit to making substantial weekly contributions, and meet all the job requirements. Recruitment would like to contract engineers who work well with others but also can work independently and take initiative.
