Embedded Systems Engineer

Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and implement embedded subsystems to be deployed in a low-power mobile computing environment including hand writing recognition, audio, networking, communications and file systems.
Overall responsibility for the Livescribe pen's digital media framework
Qualify and integrate 3rd party runtime components
Requirements:

Bachelors Degree in EE, CS, or related technical fields, or equivalent work experience.
5+ years experience developing device software for handheld mobile devices.
Demonstrated success with shipped, commercial product
In-depth knowledge of C and Java language programming and the Java VM
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent teamwork and willingness to mentor others as the company grows
Experience with J2ME and implementing JNI/KNI layers
Nice to have, but not required:

Knowledge of Audio CODECs and low power audio ICs
Experience with CLDC HI and JSR-135
Experience in the scons build system
