About the Team

The mobile applications team is a pioneering team developing a suite of mobile applications for hi5.com that will bring one of the world's top 15 websites to mobile phone users all over the world. The suite of mobile applications will be available to over 80 million hi5 members worldwide.

About the Position

hi5 is seeking a highly motivated senior software engineer to join the Mobile Team. This individual will be responsible for developing highly scalable server software for integration into SMS, MMS, and other mobile messaging gateways. The position will also consist of working on the core hi5 Mobile suite of products.

Job Responsibilities
* Implement a suite of server-side applications in Java for hi5 mobile
* Lead the integration of mobile applications into third party messaging (SMS/MMS), subscription management, and billing systems
* Develop functional specifications, and also design, implementation, testing, and maintain solutions
* Ensure performance, correctness, security, and maintainability in designing and implementing new product features
* Work closely with Development, Network, and Product Management teams

Requirements
* Educational background in Computer Science, Mathematics, or other technical field
* Understanding of delivery of SMS and MMS across different wireless networks and experience developing SMS/MMS applications
* Experience integrating with feeds and APIs from numerous content partners (SMPP, MM7, SOAP, XML)
* Formal training and/or hands-on experience in object-oriented languages
* Experience building large-scale distributed applications and architectures using Java or C++
* Skilled at learning new technologies
* Able to learn and work with existing code
* Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills
* Enthusiasm for solving difficult problems

Preferred
* Experience with mobile consumer applications, content development and support
* Experience designing and implementing modular, portable code to ease support of multiple platforms and devices
* Experience with mail and messaging protocols (e.g., SMTP, IMAP, HTTP, SIP) desirable
* Understanding of GSM, CDMA and WCDMA core network architecture
* Familiarity with wireless network registration, authentication, origination and termination implementation
* Practices test-driven, continuous integration, and iterative development
* Passionate about mobile social networks!
