In the Professional Services Consultant role, you will provide both presales and post sales support. Presales duties include answering customer requests for proposals, building proof-of-concept applications using the latest industry programming languages and tools to highlight Exalead’s capabilities and demonstrating those capabilities to a wide audience. Generally after the sale is made you will provide customized implementations of Exalead’s search technology. This position involves participation in all aspects of the development lifecycle, requirements gathering, analysis and design, development, testing, deployment and product support.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
• Answer request for information from prospects and customers.
• Create customer proof-of-concepts applications that showcase the Exalead technology.
• Have strong public speaking and presentation skills.
• Work with a small team of Exalead technologists to implement search inside of the customer’s application using Exalead search technology.
• Develop application design specifications and code solutions using a variety of technologies.
• Tune the implementation to improve the quality of results and performance.
• Perform product configuration and code release testing to support the customer application.
• Provide customer product support.
• Travel is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Solid knowledge of Linux or UNIX operating systems and utilities. Windows experience is a plus.
• Ability to work alone or as a team member is critical.
• Disciplined approaches to designing and developing applications and strong client-facing verbal and written communication skills
• Understanding of software architecture, SOA, and performance tuning aspects is important. Ideal candidates will have experience with large scale distributed computing.
• Ideal candidate will have 5+ years of professional software development, including implementing customer solutions, ideally in an enterprise software/professional services environment is desired.
• The most important skills are the ability to analyze and solve problems, creatively implement enhancements, and work well within the group to extend and support the customer’s search application.
• Good working knowledge of a broad variety of technologies including a solid knowledge of Java and J2EE technologies, NET, ASP/COM, and XML. You will occasionally need to learn other languages and technologies based on the services engagement.
• Prior experience with search engines, object databases, data mining, business intelligence tools, or network performance behavior is a plus.
