Senior Linux System Administrator
DECA was founded in 2007 by experienced entertainment and Internet executives who previously held senior roles at: Sony Pictures, ABC, and Yahoo! Music. The company identifies, funds, markets and distributes next-generation digital entertainment properties, bridging the gap between Hollywood, Madison Avenue and Silicon Valley. Based in Santa Monica, DECA is backed by Mayfield, General Catalyst, and Atomico. We are seeking a talented and motivated Senior Linux System Administrator to join our technlogy team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Install and configure Linux-based systems for production and internal virtualized development and QA environment.
- Install software packages requested by the development team
- Resolve software related problems.
- Maintain and support the entire production / data center environment.
- Provide hands on support during deployments and assure all systems are ready and operational.
- Perform system backups and recovery.
- Monitor system configuration and ensure data integrity across both the production and internal environment.
- Provide on-call / 24/7 support for monitoring software
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 3-5 years previous Linux System Administration experience with a consumer-facing internet and/or digital media company
- Experience maintaining servers: DNS, NFS, DHCP, LDAP, mail (e.g Postfix, Sendmail), and FTP service, preferred
- Understanding of SQL database servers such as MySQL and PostgreSQL
- An ability to troubleshoot various operating system configurations
- An ability to work effectively independently with minimal guidance
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
- Ability to work in a fast pace, exciting environment
- Strong work ethic
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Startup experience a plus
