Systems Engineer

Are you the type of person who:

Would rather write automation code than do anything manually, who sets up OpenSNMP and Nagios on every machine on the network just to play and compare, who knows when to write an elegant object-orented library and when to just throw together a simple script, who doesn’t have ‘can’t be done’ in their vocabulary? Then this could be the perfect job for you!

We are looking for someone who:

• Loves to write and build large-scale deployment systems
• Really understands flexible yet solid processes for build/release and CI
• Can not only build release and deployment systems, but also a lot of other systems and glue - source control, pieces of the cloud infrastructure, monitoring, deployments, management consoles, etc.
• Is a creative, versatile, and hands-on systems developer
The Opportunity:
• Be a part of building infrastructure that will define the next generation of web application development
• Own the servers and systems infrastructure that make all of Aptana’s products and services tick

Responsibilities:

• Manage entire build/test/package/release systems and processes across all products/services
• Manage source control systems
• Provision systems and update software on all servers and server farms
• Work with new initiatives and with partners on lots of cool things we can’t even think about yet

Desired Qualifications:

• Outstanding Linux+Windows strengths (and Mac OSX desirable)
• Strong/versatile developer with skills in Python, Java, Perl, Databases, Version Control (esp. svn)
• Experience in server farm instrumentation
