Job Description:

This position is responsible for the continued operational readiness of Language Weaver’s LINUX & Microsoft Infrastructure. Day-to-day responsibilities include engineering support of the IT infrastructure in a heterogeneous environment consisting of various application and software tools. This individual will fulfill a role that is responsible for specific technical administration and engineering activities. This role will require both specific and working knowledge of all tools and systems used in the enterprise.

A background which includes strong engineering skills in addition to data collection and report generation experience is desired. SQL server, Oracle or MySQL are necessary. Hardware and vendor knowledge along with the ability to support a production team of 20 developers and 4 QA for a growing SaaS provider in a 24/7 on-call environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Serve as a primary systems engineer for Microsoft & Linux servers
• Design, develop and maintain IT tools
• Develop enhancements to in-house database
• Provide engineering support for virtualization
• Share on-call duties (low occurrence)
• Participate as a subject matter expert in projects and meetings

QUALIFICATIONS:

At minimum, candidate will possess 5+ years of system engineering experience with Microsoft operating systems and tools. 3+ years recent experience in a heterogeneous environment. 2+ years hands on SQL server, Oracle or MySQL admin experience. Programming abilities in the following languages: Perl, PHP5, ASP, C/C++ or C# with at least two years demonstratable experience. 2 + years NOC experience working with high end switches and firewalls (Cisco is best) and familiarity with SAN (NAS). SVN/CVS experience is also desired.

Applicants should have a degree in Computer Science or another equivalent technology specialty and/or equivalent demonstrable knowledge/experience. Desirable certifications include Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) or Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MSCE).

Excellent time management and interpersonal skills, problem solving, organizational, and technical skills required. The candidate must have the ability to demonstrate initiative, adaptability, and to "think outside of the box". Must have the ability to coordinate a wide range of assignments by managing dependencies, expectations and effectively communicate with stakeholders.
