about? Startupers is a startup. The original job site for innovative startup companies. 2. Who is Joe Mama ? Joe Mama is Joe Mama....really. 3. What made you think about it? "The idea came to me from the spirit world. While riding my beach cruiser down Market Street on the way to the XYZ bar at the W Hotel in downtown San Francisco, I was struck viciously by an Ethiopian cab driver in a Prius. The impact launched me headfirst into a plate glass window of the Starbucks on 3rd street. I went inside with the help of a cracked-out homeless man to wipe the blood from my forehead and enjoy a delicious caramel mocha frappachino. It was at that moment, that I sort of had an existential meltdown. I wasn't sure if I was holding the Frappacchino or if I was the Frappachino. I then realized my insignificance. I had a vision. I saw that far off into the future the sun in the sky explodes supernova style erasing everything around us from existence (including history). So it, whatever "it " may be for you or for me really doesn't matter. In the meantime I decided to dedicate my days to making a really great site for fellow startUpers before I have to cash my chips in." - Craigedy Craig 03/04/06. 4. How do you make money? We don't, but we do accept paypal donations if you really want to support a good cause. 5. What's with the design of the site? The site was designed with a sharpie, a scanner and Seamonkey. The white board style was inspired by our love of graffiti. When Craig's not working on the site, he's usually riding the buses of San Francisco with his grease pen scribbling on the windows "Balut is the Answer!". Our design is minimalist, simple, and it's intention is to keep the users entertained and amused while they go through one of the most disturbing phases of their lives....trying to find a job or hiring someone. 6. Who the hec are you guys? StartUpers consists of Craig Tockman (aka Craigedy Craig): Creator and Web Design. Devin B Holmes: Co-Founder and Chief Negotiator. Barrett Andersen: Code Monkey and Muscle. Joe Mama: CTO and Mouse in Pocket. Milton Hasselbury: Employee #5 and fluffer. 7. Why is there only one"p" in StartUpers. Because "Startup" is not spelled "Startupp". Please refer to people in this industry as StartUpers. It helps us out. 8. Since you are mostly image based how does that effect SEO . Good question pointdexter. Well, we are trying to target the query "startup jobs" in a Google search. So far, we discovered that we have to mention the term "startup jobs" a lot without quotes everywhere that we can get away with entering the term startup jobs. We noticed that the cheezy sites that have since followed in our footsteps also mention that they have startup jobs in order to get listed at the top of the query for startup jobs. We tried writing startup jobs in white text against our white background but later discovered that this is bad practice and will only hurt us in getting our site about startup jobs mentioned in the query about startup jobs. We hope that we can eventually get to the top of the query for startup jobs because we are sick of paying google to feature our site about startup jobs in an adsense ad for startup jobs. Perhaps the responce to this question will help us with our goal of getting StartUpers at the top of the list for startup jobs, because we mentioned the term start up jobs so much, but I doubt it, what the hec do we know about SEO.  |
